THE DENVER RESCUE MISSION UPDATE

As of Wednesday morning, fewer than 500 turkeys have been donated compared to about 2,000 birds this time last year.

The turkeys will be served at the Great Thanksgiving Banquet on Wednesday, November 21st, given to families in 1,250 holiday food boxes and distributed to poor families in Metro Denver through churches, schools and non-profit organizations. Denver Rescue Mission will provide about 136,000 meals during the holiday season.

HOW TO HELP:

Drop off frozen turkeys weighing 12 pounds or more at the Lawrence Street Shelter (SE corner of Park Avenue West and Lawrence Street)

· Donate money toward a turkey at www.DenverRescueMission.org/donate.

· Additional items needed for Thanksgiving meals include: canned fruit, canned vegetables, canned pumpkin, canned cranberries, canned yams, boxed stuffing, and instant mashed potatoes
